This is the moment that we have been waiting for. It’s finally over. I don’t know how I feel about it. I feel like this connection with my project and I can’t explain it. I have been working on this for 12 weeks and updating it. I have no idea how to explain it but I just have this connection with it. I picked a goal that I can continue for the rest of my life. I also chose this goal because it improves my life. I wanted to pick something that would improve the state that I was in at the time. From the research and experience I can definitely say that eating healthy and working out improves your life.
What I plan on doing is finishing my slides, practice presentation, and making sure my website is what I want it to be. The main focus will be my slides. Making sure that they are what I want them to look like and other things. I made a video showing a day in my life so I will put that in the slides. Practicing what I am going to say is a big thing. Timing myself to see how long it takes me. By doing this it gives a reference on what I need to focus on more or don’t need to focus on. I am excited to present something that I have been working on for the past 12 weeks. Show with the whole class how my experience went with something that I have been putting in for so long. It has been a rollercoaster and even though I didn’t meet my final goal I still made little progress that resulted in a major one. I have also made progress on things that I never thought of improving on. I will talk about it more in my slides and the struggles I was going through.

This week I am going to focus on my video. I still need to collect all of my footage, but it isn’t a lot. So I plan on getting all the information by the end of today and finishing editing it. I need to figure out the vibe on the video. What I mean by this is what to show on it. I already have all of my morning routine filmed and edited up to the last point I filmed. I have realized that it is easier to edit after you film to get you caught up. I am unsure if I will include it in my slides. That is the main thing that I am going to do in the next few weeks. Making my slides easy to read, interesting, etc. I think if I don’t end up putting my video on the slide then I am going to put it with my podcast. I am also going to rename that slide to podcast/video. I didn’t end up getting all the parts filmed so I am going to finish that up next week.
Other than that I have been eating and working out constantly. I have finally got into the routine of school, workout, eat, homework, and go to bed. At first it was a challenge to make a routine but once you get into that routine. It’s hard to get out of it. When you do get out of it then it is miserable. I had family come into town from California for my mom's 50tg birthday party. I didn’t workout or eat well so I definitely need to work on getting back into it. I also need to figure out when I am going to run my marathon. I think I am going to go to tangle wood and run there. That is my favorite place to run and I am use to the hills, elevation, etc. I have over exceeded my goal for what I was going with I will explain on my slides and in class. The best way that I saw myself having a health life style. Was by making a goal for myself. My brain works as so. If I do not have a goal then it is hard to stay motivated. I am confident that I will make a good grade. I fi don't I don't care because I have improved my life so much just by doing this project. Hey! So this week was a MAJOR cheat week! I worked out Monday- Wednesday. Which was pointless because I ate like absolute crap throughout the break. I have some plans for what I am going to do next week. Last week I had talked to Barker about what to do. I have talked about diet and working out for the past 10 weeks. That is very very boring. So my girl Jenna came up with an amazing idea. So next week I am going to vlog about my day and what I eat. It will be a good idea because I don’t do the same thing every day. I plan on vlogging Monday- Wednesday. Edit on Thursday or on the genius hour on Wednesday (if I have all the Footage) and then post on Friday. I am definitely going to show you what I eat but I am unsure if I will film my workouts. I will definitely tell y’all what I do. I am going to film what meals I make and how I eat healthy on a budget. For Thanksgiving, I had a lot of ham and turkey. So I am going to make meals with that. I really hope that I stick to it and will show you what I do!!
don’t want to lie on this blog post. So I’m not. I forgot to write my blog post last week. I had an idea of what I was going to write but just didn’t. Last week was a fever dream. I don’t really have a good excuse, I just forgot. I have a better plan for week 8. I am having a hard time coming up with what to say and do. Yes, I can run but just running isn’t going to last long. What I mean by that is I have a hard time just by going on a run. I get very bored. I can run but I get so bored and can’t really push myself. I am happy to say I have joined a gym… AND LOVE IT. I can confidently say that it is the best thing that I have ever done for myself. After coming off of a very tough year. What I mean by that is cold.
I have thought about changing my goal but still making it a fitness lifestyle. The other goal that I was thinking of was not eating fast food for the rest of the goal. Which I have already been doing. I have released how much food affects you emotionally, mentally, and physically. After going halfway through genius hour. I can tell how much food affects you. The world essentially America relies a lot on fast food that is heavily processed. I understand that it might be comfort food to a lot of people but it emotionally damages you and you don’t even know that. I did some research on how fast food affects your body on a biological level. I found that eating fast and highly processed foods can cause inflammation in the body. You feel this with the amount of salt and high saturated fats in fast food. I can personally say that when I eat fast food my fingers swell up due to the amount of sodium that is in fast and processed foods. After coming off of a four-day break. You always hear how eating right affects you physically but never mentally. When you put good foods into your body you feel so much better. This week I have been eating protein like a mad man. I learned that the more protein you eat the less fat you lose. I have been at a stump for the last couple of weeks. I’m not sure what to do. Yes, I can work out and eat right but that is nothing to do right now. I want this journey to be as real as possible. I literally have no idea what to do. This week I am going to edit my podcast with Ferebee and post that. Other than that I have no idea what to do. Hopefully, next week will be better. I am planning on talking to Barker and seeing what else I can do. It’s halfway through. I said in my last post that I don’t see myself getting to 13 miles. I want to go into reasons on why I couldn’t finish this. There are a few.
The Weather- I knew that getting closer to the end this would be an issue. But man it is so cold. When it is cold it gives me no motivation to workout. I also found out about this thing called “cold lung”. Which is exactly what it is. I was at my CrossFit gym and my coach asked me if I had ever had it. Yes, it is the worst thing in the world. Cold lungs are where you are working out and your lungs get so cold where they just burn. So that is another reason why I haven’t been working out as much. Christmas- This one is the most ridiculous out of them all. I love Christmas but you know what I love more than Christmas. The excuse of not doing anything because it’s Christmas. I don’t want to workout when it’s Christmas. The aesthetics don’t match. So, to get into my actual plan. I workout everyday but nutrition is the most important. I look at it as. You eat 3-6 times a day. You only workout 30-60 minutes a day. Nutrition has a bigger impact on your health than working out. So if I don’t plan on working out that day. I’ll still try to have a good meal plan for that day. My plan for next week is to edit and post my podcast with the next special guest. Please let me know if y’all like the podcast. I decided to add a podcast so it wasn’t the same thing every week from me. I really like the podcast and livening getting to know about teachers outside of school My workout plan this week is to get better at arms. I haven’t mentioned it in the blog post. I HAVE NO ARM STRENGTH. I’m not ashamed of it. It just isn’t there. I want to improve on something for the next few weeks. Arms and back are something that can never hurt anyone. I think personally I have gained a lot of leg muscles but my arms are still weak. I did some talking with a highly intelligent person, my mom. She explained to me. How you don’t think you use your arms and back. When you are running the best way to run is by having your shoulders back. So by me working on my shoulders and back. That can help me with keeping my chest up and not slouching down. If that makes any sense at all. So that is my goal for next week This week has been more than unusal. It’s Halloween week! I barely worked out at the gym this week. My only excuse was that I have been going at it for like over a month. So I need a break. So I am taking one. I have missed going to the gym and eating right. It changes my mood. I know that you shouldn’t let food and activity control you but it’s a good thing right? That’s something to discuss later. Halloween is my favorite holiday so I am letting it slide. Sleep. It’s a good thing and can never hurt you. Sleep has been an issue this week. With tests and end of the grade stuff. Sleep hasn’t been my priority. It should be. I have said this multiple times during this journey but sleep does really have an effect on your behavior. So does water. Water is good for the brain and it keeps me up. It’s like my coffee every morning. One thing that I am going to try next week is my breakfast. I typically eat a protein shake but I am going to try to eat eggs and some type of fruit this morning. I used to eat that during the summer because I had time, but I don’t anymore. I love early mornings but I just don’t want to get up 30 minutes earlier. It also is half way through the project. I did not realize that it would go by so fast. By the looks of it I don't see myself running 13 miles but getting at least half way. So that is something. I am also struggling because my foot likes to hurt when I really need it. The weather hasn't been terrible but next week might be a little different. I have a good feeling that next week will be better than this week, and it will be! In all honesty I forgot about my progress, but this is what happend...
This week was a little ruff. You know how last week I talked about my foot bothering me, well since I have been more active on it, it is killing me. Now if I just walk for so long it bothers me. I think right now I am going to take a break from running on it, but will still do other physical training. I am not sure if it is my shoes that are bothering me or the way I am running but I cant run a half marathon if my feet are bothering me. It could honestly be the way that I'm not stretching the proper way. When you run or do cardio, you body builds up lactic acid that over the period of you working out builds up and can cause cramps and make the experience very uncomfortable. This upcoming week I will run and stretch and see if that could answer the problems that I am having. My diet has consisted about the same since last, I still have the same breakfast and lunch. But for dinner I am starting to eat more vegetables. I still have some type of meat weather that be beans, chicken (this is my favorite), or pork. I have done a lot of research on what kind of foods affect your body when you eat on a more microscope way. Which is funny because in biology we are learning that same thing to. One interesting thing I learned was that proteins are just thousands of amino acids in a strain. This week am also going to interview Mr.Barker and about his running. I will include this in my podcast section of my website. I am going to ask him about how he got into running? How did you get your mile time so fast? What do you think about when running? Have you ran any marathons? What advice would you give me? By me asking these questions it will give me a better idea on how I want to approach next week. It is my first week. I worked out every single day this week. Tuesday and Friday I ran 2 miles and the other days I worked out the other parts of my body. I think that it is going to be difficult but I haven't put myself under this amount of pressure before. I have researched and found out that running is a lot of abs and glutes. Another thing that I have worked on is my breathing. Instead of having a inconstant running. I am working on controlling my breathing and not running out of break for the first mile of my run. I ran 2 miles and can tell that the first mile sets the tone for the rest of my run.
I have also considered the weather. The weather sets the mood of how I am feeling mentally about my run. If the weather is hot and humid then I don't do as good on my run. If the weather is cooler and not has humid then I have the right mind set to go on a run. I don't know if I'll be saying that in a few weeks when the weather starts getting colder, but I will report on that if I affects my run. I said that I would show my progress based on my run, is my running shoes. The running shoes that I have decided to run are Brooks launch 5 "Rock N' Roll Marathon edition". These shoes are not only colorful but provide the perfect amount of cushion to my foot. I am using these shoes since I have only ran about 35 miles with them and you don't have to get new ones until you hit around 400 miles. The only thing that I am stressing on is my foot. If I run back to back days the inside of my foot. I haven't gone anywhere to look at it but I know that it hurts and and am not going to put a lot of pressure on me running everyday. Instead I will work on creating muscle in my calves, legs, and just overall working out. This week I ate the same food every single day. For breakfast I had a protein shake that has about 50g of protein, lunch was turkey meat, some type of vegetable and some type of fat like nuts or a KIND bar. For dinner I mostly have protein and a lot of vegetables. If I intent to run more often. I am going to need more carbs or electrolytes to obtain a good level of nutrition. |
